About Tribal Carnival
Tribal Carnival is a premier international mas band based in Toronto, Ontario, known for its innovation, excellence, and deep cultural roots in the Caribbean Carnival tradition. Established in 2007 by dynamic husband-and-wife team Dexter and Gail Seusahai, Tribal Carnival was built on a shared vision: to bring vibrant Caribbean culture to the global stage through art, music, and mas. Today, the band is proudly led by their daughter, Celena Seusahai, who serves as CEO and Operations Manager, continuing the legacy with fresh energy and a bold creative direction.
From its inception, Tribal Carnival quickly rose to prominence within the Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana) scene, earning recognition for its high-quality costumes, exceptional customer experience, and commitment to cultural authenticity. Tribal Carnival has repeatedly earned accolades for Band of the Year presentations, and has expanded its reach internationally, participating in and supporting carnivals in Miami, New York, Trinidad, Jamaica, and more.
Notable milestones include:
2010 – First Band of the Year award at Toronto Caribbean Carnival.
2014 – International expansion with appearances in Miami Carnival.
2018 – Debuted groundbreaking digital costume campaign, pushing forward the fusion of tech and mas.
2023 – Launched youth mentorship and design initiatives, spotlighting emerging Caribbean creatives.
Known for fusing traditional Caribbean storytelling with modern design aesthetics, Tribal Carnival’s annual themes often reflect historical narratives, folklore, and contemporary interpretations of identity and empowerment.
